1099 Physician (MD/DO)

Summary

Groups provides an established, research-based model of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), which is regarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Association (SAMHSA) and the American Society for Addiction Medicine (ASAM) as the gold standard for treating opiate use disorders. We provide our members the tools they need to take back control of their life by combining medicine and therapy.

Physician (1099) Requirements:

• Currently Practicing in Iowa
• Hold an active, unrestricted medical license (MD/DO) in Iowa
• Possess an active, individual DEA registration with an Iowa address (note: separate DEA registrations are needed for prescribing in each state where you intend to prescribe).
• Have DEAX designation for prescribing Buprenorphine - OR - Provide proof of completing 8 hours of qualified training as mandated by SAMHSA (preferably with experience in prescribing for MAT/SUD, but related experience is also considered).
• Provide proof of active board certification (MD or DO; any specialty)

Physician (1099) Responsibilities:

• Assist with conducting intakes, where physicians see patients after they have completed a thorough evaluation by a counselor.
• Regularly monitor patients clinical progress during group counseling sessions. These sessions are led by specialized counseling staff, with physicians participating to answer questions and manage medication dosing for patients.
• Authorize prescriptions for patients during monthly visits with patient panels.
• Complete all notes and reporting in the Groups EMR system within the required timeline (providers receive full orientation and training on clinical protocols before starting work with Groups). 

We follow strict protocols to guide clinical decision-making. Additionally, we have developed a unique, technology-driven, team-based clinical system that manages all day-to-day patient care and regulatory compliance. This setup allows physicians to concentrate solely on medical management.
