Responsibilities of the Payment Poster include accurately and efficiently recording all payments, adjustments, and rejections from insurance companies and patients onto patient accounts in the billing system. This position is crucial for ensuring the integrity of financial data by managing and reconciling payments to facilitate the revenue cycle.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Reasonable measures can be taken to facilitate the performance of crucial tasks by individuals with disabilities.

  • Post payments identified in Remittance and EOBs to the designated accounts with high accuracy and minimal errors.
  • Execute manual and auto payment functionalities for Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Insurance payor types.
  • Validate patient account accuracy by assessing EOB data for co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance shares, contractual adjustments, and denials, among other relevant details.
  • Embed ANSI denial codes in conjunction with comprehensive remarks to ensure seamless appeals and post-payment activities.
  • Scrutinize unidentified payments to determine their rightful application to the relevant accounts, which may involve clarifying the payment's intended posting location by contacting the sender.
  • The process of reconciling deficiencies on both paper and electronic EOBs is crucial for establishing the correct allowance and carrying out the necessary adjustments accurately.
  • Aid in the setup of Electronic Remittance Advices (ERA) for Commercial and Medicare clients
  • Provide the Finance department with all batch reconciliation updates.
  • Take proactive measures to collect outstanding balances from all payers, including insurance companies and self-paying individuals, while also resolving any claim denials promptly.

The role involves performing miscellaneous responsibilities and tasks as necessary:

  • Other obligations could be designated as necessary.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10 coding, and payer rules related to behavioral health services.
  • Knowledge of insurance plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using EHR systems and insurance verification software.
  • Understanding of payment reconciliation and basic accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in Zoom/Google Meets and other virtual meeting platforms
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to handle sensitive member and payment data in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Ability to use discretion and work independently under general supervision.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to the Professional Code of Conduct.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent associate's degree or relevant certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in posting payments from Remittance and EOB’s as well as applying manual payments
  • Access to reliable internet and telephone services, specifically 40M download and 10M upload package or higher as well as a strong WiFi signal from your remote work location.
  • Must meet pre-employment requirements and maintain all applicable state and job-related guidelines for background screening.
